Which bench should you buy?

• One bench, general home training: an adjustable (FID) bench. It covers flat press, incline press, shoulder work and seated dumbbell work from a single frame. The JORDAN HELIX Adjustable Weight Bench at £356 is the cheapest route in; the JORDAN Adjustable Incline/Decline Bench at £696 adds a wider angle range (+85° to −10°) and a heavier frame.
• You already own a rack: buy a flat or adjustable bench, not an Olympic bench. The uprights on an Olympic bench duplicate what your rack already does.
• You do not own a rack and only want to press: an Olympic bench. It carries the bar itself, so a £1,434 Olympic Incline Bench replaces a bench plus a rack rather than adding to one.
• Circuit, PT studio or group floor: a HIIT bench. These are built to be moved, stacked and used continuously by different people, and can be supplied custom-coloured or branded.
• Arm and core specialisation: preacher curl, abdominal and back extension benches from £580.

Buying notes

“Un-kitted” in a HIIT bench title means the bench frame is supplied without the accessory kit — check the product page for what the kitted version adds. Decline benches cost roughly £300–£400 more than the equivalent incline model across every brand here, because of the leg-anchor mechanism.
