What £4,000–£5,000 buys

Cable & multi-function JORDAN HELIX Dual Cable Adjustable Pulley Machine £4,074; MYO Strength Multi Gym with 100kg bumper plates £4,290
Racks JORDAN J75 Cable Rack £4,254.65 – £4,600; J75 T-Rack £4,545.46 – £4,920
Cardio Attack Run Attack Curved Treadmill £4,320 (with resistance £4,470); StairMaster 8Gx Gauntlet Stepmill from £4,995

Two decisions worth £150 and £224

  • The Run Attack With Resistance is £150 more than the standard curved treadmill and adds magnetic braking — turning a running machine into a sled-push machine as well. If you train conditioning at all, it is the cheaper of the two decisions.
  • The J75 Cable Rack at £4,254.65 puts weight-stack cable columns into the rack frame, so one footprint does both rack work and cable work. Compare it against buying a rack plus a separate pulley machine before deciding.

Home gym or commercial floor?

At this budget the split is clear. A dual adjustable pulley or a J75 cable rack makes sense in a serious home gym — both do many jobs in one footprint. Single-function selectorised machines (leg press, leg extension, abdominal crunch) only earn their space when several people are training at once, which is why they belong on a commercial floor rather than in a garage.
