The JORDAN range — and what each rack costs per pair stored

Two things fall straight out of that table. First, the 12 Pair 3 Tier Hex Rack with Trays at £552 stores two more pairs than most of the racks above it and is the cheapest per pair in the JORDAN range — if your set will grow, it is the one to buy. Second, weight labels cost exactly £84 on every oval-frame rack (£516 → £600, £564 → £648, £576 → £660). Worth it on a commercial floor where members need to find a weight quickly; hard to justify in a home gym where you already know which dumbbell is which.

Horizontal, vertical or tiered?

• Horizontal (2 or 3 tier) — dumbbells laid in a row along each tier. Fastest to grab from and the easiest to keep in order, which is why it is the commercial standard. Needs the most wall length.
• Vertical (S-Series) — dumbbells stacked upward in a narrow column. Takes a fraction of the wall space, and the right answer in a garage or spare-room gym where floor and wall are both tight.
• 3 tier over 2 tier — more pairs in the same footprint, at the cost of bending lower for the bottom row.
• Saddles vs trays — saddles cradle each dumbbell individually and keep them straight; trays are a continuous shelf and suit hex dumbbells, which sit flat and do not roll.

Buy the rack for the set you will own

The most common mistake here is buying a 10-pair rack for a 10-pair set. Dumbbell sets grow — a heavier pair gets added, then another — and the pairs that will not fit end up on the floor, which is exactly the problem the rack was bought to solve. If your set is 10 pairs today, a 12-pair rack costs little more and will still be right in two years.
