The range

Motorised or curved?

• Motorised — a belt driven at a speed you set, with powered incline. This is the right choice for steady-state running, incline walking, structured programmes and anyone rehabilitating at a controlled pace. It needs a mains socket and it has a motor that will eventually need servicing.
• Curved / self-powered — the belt moves only because you move it, and the curve of the deck means you speed up by running further forward. No plug, no motor, nothing to service, and it cannot run away from you. The trade-off is that it is significantly harder work at any given speed, and it does not incline.
• Sled-resistance (HIITMILL X, Run Attack With Resistance) — a curved deck with magnetic braking, so you can push against real resistance as well as run. Bought for conditioning and sprint work rather than distance running.

Before you order

Commercial treadmills are the heaviest and least forgiving machines to get into a house. Check the doorway widths, any turns in a hallway, and the floor loading if the treadmill is going upstairs. A curved treadmill has no motor housing, which makes it noticeably easier to move but no lighter. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we will check the dimensions against your access.
