Why a 48mm grip?
Thicker than a standard pull-up bar, and deliberately so. On dips your bodyweight hangs through a small contact area, and a thin bar concentrates that into the base of the palm. 48mm spreads the load, which is the difference between finishing your sets and stopping because your hands hurt.
