Jordan Dumbbell Racks and Gym Storage UK: What Do You Need? (2026)

Storage is the part of a gym fit-out most people buy last and regret not planning first. Dumbbells end up on the floor, plates lean against the wall and bands disappear into a corner. Jordan Fitness makes a storage piece for almost every kind of kit, and the right one depends on what you own and how much floor you can spare.

The short answer: for dumbbells in a small room, buy the JORDAN Vertical Dumbbell Racks (S-Series) (£420 – £768). For a long wall on a commercial floor, buy a horizontal rack such as the JORDAN 10 Pair, 2 Tier Dumbbell Rack (Oval Frame) with Saddles (£516), or the JORDAN 12 Pair, 3 Tier Hex Dumbbell Rack with Trays (£552) if your dumbbells are hex. Add the JORDAN Olympic Weight Tree (£228) for plates, and the JORDAN Freestanding Gym Storage System (£741) or JORDAN Storage Cage (£576) for small accessories.

Key takeaways

  • Match the rack to the dumbbell shape: Jordan's oval-frame saddle racks are for round dumbbells and are not for use with hex dumbbells. For hex, choose flat-tray storage. Jordan makes both.
  • Vertical racks trade height for floor space. Jordan lists the single S-Series racks at 650 × 600mm on the floor and up to 1,880mm tall, holding 10 pairs.
  • Floor clutter is a real hazard. HSE figures show slips, trips or falls on the same level caused 30% of RIDDOR-reported non-fatal injuries to employees in 2024/25.
  • The JORDAN HELIX Multi Gym Storage Rack [LTR] is rated to 1,000kg, stands alone or attaches to a HELIX rack, and is the heaviest-duty storage in the range.
  • Most Jordan storage ships free. Every rack here except the Olympic Weight Tree and the smaller Sandbag Rack costs £250 or more on its own.

Which Jordan dumbbell rack should you buy?

Decide on three things in order: the shape of your dumbbells, how much wall length you have, and whether more than one or two people will use the rack. That settles it in almost every case.

JORDAN rack Holds Layout Price Best for
Vertical Dumbbell Racks (S-Series), single 10 pairs, 1–10kg / 2–20kg (£420) or 2.5–25kg (£492) Upright tower £420 or £492 Garages, PT studios, hotel gyms
Vertical Dumbbell Racks (S-Series), double 12 pairs, 2.5–30kg Wide, lower tower £768 Small rooms with low headroom
10 Pair, 2 Tier Dumbbell Rack (Oval Frame) with Saddles 10 pairs, round Long and low £516 (£600 with weight labels) Commercial floors with wall length
10 Pair, 3 Tier Dumbbell Rack (Oval Frame) with Saddles 10 pairs, round Shorter and taller £564 (£648 with weight labels) Narrower walls
12 Pair, 2 Tier Dumbbell Rack (Oval Frame) with Saddles 12 pairs, round Long and low £576 (£660 with weight labels) Larger round sets
12 Pair, 3 Tier Hex Dumbbell Rack with Trays 12 pairs, hex (sets up to 30kg) Flat trays £552 Hex dumbbell sets

Capacities for the S-Series are from Jordan's product page; the other capacities are from our product titles and pages. All prices are from our live catalogue.

Vertical or horizontal: which dumbbell rack saves more space?

Vertical, by a wide margin, as long as you have the height. Jordan lists the single S-Series racks at 650mm wide and 600mm deep, holding 10 pairs, with a height of 1,770mm (1–10kg or 2–20kg) or 1,880mm (2.5–25kg).

The double S-Series rack is wider and lower: 1,490mm wide, 610mm deep and 1,310mm tall, holding 12 pairs from 2.5kg to 30kg. Jordan rates the 1–10kg / 2–20kg single rack to 220kg, the 2.5–25kg single rack to 275kg and the double rack to 390kg (Jordan Fitness).

Horizontal racks win on speed. Every dumbbell sits at hand height and in plain view, which is why commercial free-weight floors are usually laid out this way. If floor space is not the problem, horizontal is easier to use.

Do hex dumbbells need a different rack?

Usually, yes. Hex dumbbells have flat faces, so flat-tray storage suits them best. Saddle racks vary by design, so check what the manufacturer says before racking hex dumbbells in saddles. In Jordan's case it is clear: Jordan states its oval-frame saddle racks are not for use with hex dumbbells.

The JORDAN 12 Pair, 3 Tier Hex Dumbbell Rack with Trays (£552) is built for them, with flat trays instead of saddles, and holds sets up to 30kg. Round urethane or rubber dumbbells belong in the oval-frame saddle racks, from £516.

The S-Series vertical racks use rubber saddles, and Jordan says they hold its urethane and rubber dumbbells. If you are buying dumbbells and storage together, check the shape first, and ask us before ordering if you are unsure which rack suits your set. Our Jordan dumbbells guide covers each set.

Are weight labels worth paying extra for?

In a shared gym, usually yes. In a home gym used by one or two people, usually no.

On the oval-frame racks, the version with weight labels costs £84 more: £600 against £516 for 10 pairs on 2 tiers, £648 against £564 on 3 tiers, and £660 against £576 for 12 pairs. On the JORDAN 10 Pair Horizontal Dumbbell Rack - 2 Tier, the labelled version is £600 against £520.

Labels help members put dumbbells back in the right place, which keeps the run in order and saves staff time re-sorting. At home, where you always know where the 20s go, the saving is better spent elsewhere.

How should you store weight plates and barbells?

Off the floor, on a tree or rack sized to what you own. Plates on the floor chip, lean and trip people, and lifting a 20kg plate from flat is an awkward position for the back.

The JORDAN Olympic Weight Tree (£228) has six stainless steel horns on a powder-coated steel frame. Jordan lists it at 1,510mm tall, 500mm wide and 660mm deep, weighing 18kg (Jordan Fitness).

For fixed-weight barbells, the JORDAN Fixed Barbell Rack holds 5 bars (£342) or 10 bars (£384) upright. Jordan gives both versions the same 648 × 963mm footprint, so the 10-bar stores twice as many in the same floor area (Jordan Fitness). Group studios running pump-style classes can use the JORDAN Studio Barbell Rack (30 Sets) at £708.

For which plates to buy in the first place, see our Jordan weight plates guide.

Which Jordan storage suits accessories, balls and bands?

It depends on whether the kit needs to be on show, locked away or moved around. Jordan makes a piece for each.

JORDAN storage Price What it does Choose it if
Freestanding Gym Storage System £741 Open shelving in three layouts: 4 flat shelves, 3 shelves and 1 ball rail, or 2 shelves and 2 ball rails You want everything visible and to hand
Storage Cage £576 Steel mesh cage with lockable lid and lockable wheels, rated to 200kg Kit needs to move between rooms or be locked
Gym Storage Box £540 Steel box with a lid for loose accessories Kit lives in one corner permanently
HELIX Multi Gym Storage Rack [LTR] £645 Heavy-duty rack rated to 1,000kg, standalone or attached to a HELIX rack You need to store heavy iron next to a HELIX rack
Kettlebell Storage Rack £480 Shelved rack for up to 12 kettlebells You own more than a handful of kettlebells
Sandbag Rack £234 – £312 Dedicated sandbag storage You run conditioning classes with sandbags
Single Bay Storage Pod £2,399.99 Freestanding commercial accessory storage You are fitting out a functional zone

Jordan lists the Storage Cage at 1,350mm long, 650mm deep and 780mm high, with a 200kg maximum load (Jordan Fitness). The Kettlebell Storage Rack is 782mm high, 1,395mm long and 600mm deep, and Jordan states it is made in the UK (Jordan Fitness).

Can storage attach to a Jordan HELIX rack?

Yes, two ways. The JORDAN HELIX Multi Gym Storage Rack [LTR] (£645) can stand alone or attach to a HELIX rack, and HELIX weight storage horns bolt onto the rack itself.

Jordan lists the multi storage rack at 2,500mm wide, 1,520mm high and 620mm long, weighing 91kg, with a 1,000kg maximum load and the heaviest items on the bottom (Jordan Fitness). That makes it the one Jordan storage piece built for heavy dumbbells and plates rather than accessories.

For plates on the rack, we sell HELIX storage horns made for specific rack types: the JORDAN HELIX Weight Storage Horns Attachments (pair) for fixed (£514) and freestanding (£479) power racks, and the JORDAN HELIX Power Rack (LTR) Weight Storage Horns Attachment (Pair) at £278. Buy the version named for your rack. Our Jordan power racks guide explains which HELIX rack is which.

Why does gym storage matter for safety?

Because kit on the floor is a trip hazard, and trips are the most common workplace injury. HSE figures show that slips, trips or falls on the same level caused 30% of non-fatal injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR in 2024/25, and handling, lifting or carrying a further 17% (HSE).

In a commercial gym, staff count as employees, so a tidy floor is part of running a safe workplace. At home the same logic applies to anyone walking through the room.

Good storage also changes how you lift. A dumbbell or plate picked from waist height is a safer, easier lift than one dragged up from the floor between sets.

How is Jordan storage delivered?

Standard UK delivery is £20 on orders under £250, and free on orders of £250 or more. Once your order is confirmed as in stock, it is normally dispatched within 5 working days, with tracking emailed within 24 hours of dispatch, and delivered by our delivery partners.

Every dumbbell rack and storage unit in this guide costs £250 or more and ships free, except the JORDAN Olympic Weight Tree (£228) and the smaller JORDAN® Sandbag Rack (£234). The threshold applies to the whole order, so either one ships free when ordered with plates, a bar or other kit.

You can choose courier delivery and assemble the storage yourself, or delivery with assembly or installation arranged on site. Installation is available on many items, is not automatically included with delivery, and is quoted separately before you order.

Frequently asked questions

What size dumbbell rack do I need? Count the pairs you own now and the pairs you will add in the next year or two. Jordan's racks hold 10 or 12 pairs, so buy the larger size if your set is still growing. If your set runs to 30kg, the double S-Series vertical rack covers 2.5–30kg across 12 pairs.

Will a vertical dumbbell rack fit under a low ceiling? Usually, but measure first. Jordan lists the single S-Series racks at 1,770mm or 1,880mm tall and the double rack at 1,310mm. In a garage with a low door track or a basement with pipework, the double rack is the safer choice.

Can I put rubber and urethane dumbbells on the same rack? Yes, if they are the same shape. Jordan says the S-Series vertical racks hold its urethane and rubber dumbbells, and round dumbbells of either material sit in the oval-frame saddle racks. For hex dumbbells, choose flat-tray storage such as the JORDAN hex rack; Jordan states its oval-frame saddle racks are not for use with hex dumbbells.

Do Jordan storage racks need fixing to the wall? Check each unit before you order. The Storage Cage moves on lockable wheels, and the HELIX Multi Gym Storage Rack [LTR] can stand alone or attach to a HELIX rack. For any other unit, or anything going into a busy commercial space, ask us about fixing for your floor and walls before you order.

Is the Storage Cage or the Gym Storage Box better for a studio? The Storage Cage (£576) has a lockable lid and lockable wheels, so it suits shared spaces and kit that moves between rooms. The Gym Storage Box (£540) suits a fixed corner where the kit stays put. In a shared or commercial space, the lock usually decides it.

Does the Olympic Weight Tree qualify for free delivery? Not on its own: at £228 it is under the £250 threshold, so delivery is £20. Add plates, a bar or any other item that takes the order to £250 or more and the whole order ships free.

What Jordan storage should you start with?

Start with the kit that spends most time on the floor. For most home gyms that means a vertical dumbbell rack and a weight tree; for commercial floors, a horizontal dumbbell run with labels, plate storage beside the racks and a storage system for accessories.
