Jordan HELIX vs J75: Which Rack System Should You Buy? (2026)

Jordan Fitness builds its racks in two families, HELIX and J75, and the names alone tell you very little. The difference is not just price. It is how heavy the frame is, how much the hooks are rated to hold, how tall the room has to be, and whether the rack is meant for two people or a busy gym floor.

The short answer: buy HELIX if you are equipping a home gym, garage or small PT studio. The JORDAN HELIX Fixed Power Rack (£855) and Freestanding Power Rack (£997.50) give you a full four-post cage at under half the price of J75, but neither includes safety bars. If you train alone, choose the HELIX Freestanding Power Rack (LTR) with J-Hooks & Safety Bars (£1,224.84) or add the HELIX Safety Bar Attachment (£129). Buy J75 if the rack will see heavy, all-day use on a busy commercial floor, or you want one modular system that grows from a single rack to a multi-bay rig. The J75 Compact Power Rack (£2,216) is built on a 75 × 75 × 3mm steel frame with J-hooks rated to 600kg.

Key takeaways

  • HELIX is Jordan's home and light-commercial rack system; J75 is its heavy commercial system. Both are full rack ranges with their own attachments.
  • Not every HELIX rack includes safety bars. The Fixed (£855) and standard Freestanding (£997.50) racks need the HELIX Safety Bar Attachment (£129); the £1,224.84 LTR freestanding rack includes safety arms.
  • J75 hooks carry far more: Jordan rates J75 J-hooks to 600kg a pair, against 350kg for HELIX J-hooks.
  • HELIX needs less headroom. Jordan lists HELIX power racks at 2,250–2,260mm tall and the J75 Compact at 2,400mm, before you add room to pull up.
  • Jordan's frame warranty differs: three years on HELIX metal parts (one year on plastic), lifetime on the J75 Compact's metal frame (one year on other components).
  • Racks are named in their own safety standard. ISO 20957-4 sets safety requirements for free-standing barbell racks, alongside the general rules in ISO 20957-1.

What is the difference between Jordan HELIX and J75?

HELIX is the lighter, cheaper system, built for homes, garages and lower-traffic studios. J75 is the heavier commercial system, built for gyms where a rack is loaded and unloaded all day by different people.

Jordan describes HELIX as "affordable commercial quality" (Jordan Fitness). Some HELIX models carry an [LTR] tag, which Jordan uses for light commercial settings with lower traffic, such as PT studios, smaller gyms, hotels and premium homes. So a PT studio does not automatically need J75: a well-chosen HELIX [LTR] rack is designed for exactly that kind of setting.

J75 takes its name from its frame. The J75 Compact Power Rack is a 75 × 75 × 3mm steel section, and Jordan calls it "commercially rated – suitable for large gyms as well as home" (Jordan Fitness).

How do HELIX and J75 compare on specification?

Don't confuse the LTR rack above with the standard HELIX Freestanding Power Rack (£997.50). It is a different rack: 2,070mm long, 1,220mm wide and 2,250mm tall, with no safety bars included.

Which Jordan rack system suits a home gym?

HELIX, for almost every home. A two-person garage gym will not come close to the 350kg J-hook rating, and HELIX gives you fixed, freestanding and folding formats to suit the room.

Choose the format by the floor and the ceiling. The HELIX Fixed Power Rack (£855) bolts down through three holes in each foot and has the smallest footprint of the three. It comes with J-hooks but no safety bars, so add the HELIX Safety Bar Attachment (£129) before you lift heavy alone. The HELIX Freestanding Power Rack (£997.50) needs no drilling, which suits rented homes and floors with underfloor heating. It also comes without safety bars.

The HELIX Freestanding Power Rack (LTR) with J-Hooks & Safety Bars (£1,224.84) is the one to buy if you train alone and want safeties in the box. Jordan includes safety arms rated to 450kg, so a failed squat lands on steel rather than on you. If the room has another job, the HELIX Folding Power Rack (LTR) (£627.60) folds flat to the wall.

For every HELIX format in one place, including half racks and squat stands, see our Jordan power racks and rigs guide.

When is J75 worth more than twice the price?

When the rack is a working asset rather than a piece of home equipment. That means a commercial gym, a sports club or a studio where several people load the same bar through the day.

It is not automatically necessary for every PT studio. A studio with one trainer and a few clients at a time is the lower-traffic setting Jordan designs its [LTR] HELIX racks for. Step up to J75 when several people share the rack all day, when loads are consistently heavy, or when you plan to expand into a rig.

Three things justify the cost. The hook and pull-up ratings are higher (600kg and 350kg against 350kg and 150kg). Jordan gives the J75 Compact's metal frame a lifetime warranty, against three years on HELIX metal parts. And J75 is a modular system: the same attachments fit the Compact, the Cable Rack, the T-Rack and the J75 Rig.

The demand on commercial floors is real. Sport England's Active Lives survey for November 2024 to November 2025 recorded 15.3 million adults taking part in fitness activities, up 921,000 on the year before (Sport England). More members means more loading cycles on every rack.

Will a HELIX or J75 rack fit under my ceiling?

Measure the ceiling before anything else. Jordan lists HELIX power racks at 2,250–2,260mm tall and the J75 Compact at 2,400mm, and you need clear space above the pull-up bar as well as above the uprights.

The J75 Compact is 140–150mm taller than HELIX. In rooms with low beams, a garage door track or a dropped ceiling, that difference alone can decide the system for you.

Check the footprint too. The J75 Compact is 1,858mm wide, so it needs a clear run of wall nearly two metres long plus room to load plates on each side. The HELIX Fixed is the most compact cage at 1,000 × 1,200mm.

Can HELIX and J75 attachments be mixed?

No. Each system has its own attachment range, and Jordan lists compatible accessories by system on each rack's page. Buy attachments with the same family name as your rack.

HELIX attachments include the HELIX J-Hook Attachment (Pair) at £109, the HELIX Safety Bar Attachment (Pair) at £129, the HELIX Dipping Bar Attachment at £139 and the HELIX Single Cable Pulley Attachment. J75 attachments include the J75 Safety Spot Arms Attachment (pair) at £290, the J75 Jammer Arms Attachment (pair) at £774 and the J75 Hip Thrust Pad Attachment at £369.

This is the real long-term difference between the systems. Pick the family that matches where your gym will be in five years, because every attachment you buy locks you further into it.

What do commercial buyers need to know about rack safety?

Two rules apply. Free-standing barbell racks have their own safety standard, and racks used at work fall under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).

ISO 20957-4 "specifies safety requirements for stationary strength training benches and free-standing barbell racks", in addition to the general requirements of ISO 20957-1 (ISO). It is worth asking any supplier which standard a commercial rack has been tested to.

Under PUWER, HSE says equipment whose safety depends on how it is installed should be inspected "after installation" and "before first use", then at suitable intervals where it is exposed to deterioration (HSE). A floor-fixed J75 rack on a busy floor belongs on your inspection schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jordan HELIX good enough for heavy lifting? For most home lifters, yes. Jordan rates HELIX J-hooks to 350kg a pair and the safety arms on the HELIX Freestanding Power Rack (LTR) to 450kg, well beyond what most people squat or bench. The HELIX Fixed and standard Freestanding racks don't include safety bars, so add the HELIX Safety Bar Attachment if you lift alone. J75 is aimed at higher loads and constant commercial use rather than heavier individual lifts at home.

Why is the J75 Compact Power Rack so much more expensive than HELIX? It is built on a heavier 75 × 75 × 3mm steel frame, carries J-hooks rated to 600kg and a pull-up bar rated to 350kg, and Jordan gives the metal frame a lifetime warranty. It also opens up the full J75 attachment system used across Jordan's commercial racks and rigs.

Does a HELIX rack need bolting to the floor? It depends on the model. The HELIX Fixed Power Rack bolts down through three holes in each foot. Both HELIX freestanding power racks stand on their own, and Jordan says neither can be fixed to the floor. The HELIX Folding Power Rack mounts to a wall.

What ceiling height do I need for a Jordan power rack? Jordan lists HELIX power racks at 2,250–2,260mm and the J75 Compact Power Rack at 2,400mm. Add room above the pull-up bar for your head and arms if you plan to do pull-ups. Send us your measurements before ordering and we'll check the fit.

Can I add a cable pulley to a Jordan rack later? Yes, within the same family. We sell the JORDAN HELIX Single Cable Pulley Attachment for HELIX racks. For J75, cable work comes built in on the J75 Cable Rack (£4,478) and the J75 T-Rack (£4,784), so plan for it at purchase. Our cable machine guide compares the options.

Do I need gym flooring under a HELIX or J75 rack? Yes. Flooring protects the slab and the plates, and it stops a freestanding rack creeping. A floor-fixed rack should be bolted through flooring suited to it, so plan both together. Our gym flooring guide covers thickness and coverage.

HELIX or J75: which should you buy?

Buy HELIX for a home gym, a garage or a quiet PT studio: fixed if you can drill, freestanding if you can't, the LTR version with safety bars if you train alone (or add safety bars to the fixed or standard freestanding rack). Buy J75 when the rack is part of a busy commercial floor, when loads and traffic are high, or when you want one system that grows into a rig.
