Straps or rigid safety bars?
This is the real decision, and it comes down to what you are protecting. Straps at £122 are gentler: a failed bench press lands on polyurethane, which absorbs the drop rather than bouncing the bar back into your chest, and does not chew the knurling. Safety Bars at £129 are rated higher at 500kg and are rigid, which is what you want for deliberate pin work and very heavy squats where a strap's give is a variable you do not want. Bench alone → straps. Squat heavy → bars. Many gyms fit both.
Why does bar bounce matter?
Because a failed bench press dropped onto rigid steel can rebound. On a strap system the energy goes into the polyurethane and stops there. For anyone training alone at home — which is most of our customers — that is the single most useful thing this attachment does.
