The wooden inserts are the same platform in different finishes: Oak at £760 is the entry point, Nutmeg and Coffee are £850, and Black American Walnut is £890 — a £130 spread from cheapest to most expensive for identical function. Choose on how the gym should look, not on performance.
Why a platform matters: dropping a loaded bar onto a concrete slab damages the slab, the plates and the bar. A platform gives you a rubber landing area either side of a solid timber centre you can pull from without the bar bouncing. If you deadlift heavy or lift Olympic style, it is not a luxury.
